We ripped out the original surface and laid down a brand new hardcore base on top of a heavy-duty weed-control membrane. We installed beautiful treated railway sleepers on one side of the driveway to function as raised flower beds. Then we installed a new charcoal block paved border between the walking area and the new driveway. Finally, we filled the whole driveway with cut gravel chippings.
